Besides its comprehensive North America collection and the valuable private possessions of author Karl May, the Karl May Museum has other previously unknown treasures.
The special exhibition “Hidden treasures – From the Karl May Museum depot” showed rare delicacies from almost everywhere around the world.
Some are from the private estate of author Karl May and his second wife Klara, or found their way into the collection via artist Patty Frank and other collectors.
A travel poem written by Karl May himself on his Oriental travels, a mysterious Indian paper drawing and a precious leather shirt, allegedly from among the possessions of Sioux chief Red Cloud, and was believed lost for many years, have been just a few of over fifty artworks and cultural artefacts on display.
