Annual exhibition

And Peace on Earth

1 December to 27 October 2019

The annual exhibition recalls the time of the freedom movement in the late 19th century until Karl May’s death in 1912, and contextualises it with the freedom movements of our time. What did Karl May think about this and how is it expressed in his writing? Which religious symbols are used and how do characters like Winnetou behave in this context?

The Karl May Museum - In the past, present and future

01 December 2018 to 02 June 2019

In 1928, the famous Karl May Museum was founded at the author’s home on the initiative of his widow Klara May. Even today, it is still considered a hub for German Indian and Wild West romanticism. Karl May’s life and work was and is preserved, maintained and exhibited here. The special exhibition tells of the beginnings of the museum, but primarily looks towards its future.
